More and more suppliers are turning to teeth whitening manufacturers to help them create quality products that will stand out in today’s competitive cosmetics industry. Within this $40 billion industry, the tooth whitening manufacturing segment has established quite a lucrative niche for itself as it excels towards greater quality of products, variety and innovation. Market Surveys and Experts estimate that in this year alone, sale of teeth whitening products could hit $12 billion.
Ever since civilization began, man adopted various ways to whiten teeth and prevent teeth decay. The early Egyptians, in 2000 B.C. used a mixture of wine vinegar with pumice stone. In ancient India, twigs of the Babul (Acacia arabica) tree were used as toothbrushes. The tannin in the babul twigs worked to whiten teeth. Leaves of holy basil and aerial roots of the banyan tree are traditional botanicals, still being used today, and are added as natural teeth whitening ingredients in toothpastes.
Teeth Whitening Manufacturing: Booming Demand!
There are many reasons for the increasing popularity of the teeth whitening manufacturing industry. Various factors ranging from aesthetics, to vanity to promoting a better self-image have driven this industry to higher scales of popularity and sales. An appealing smile showing a dazzling array of pearly white teeth is a desirable commodity.
According to a survey conducted by the Association of American Cosmetic Dentistry, about 98 percent of America says that a white smile is an important social asset. 96 percent believe a good smile attracts sex appeal, about 74 percent believe that having a winsome smile can successfully enhance your career prospects.
At one time, women and baby boomers were considered to be the more likely candidates for teeth whiteners. But men are not far behind. In his book, Mantalk, Elliot Jacobs, explains, “The open expression of male vanity is undoubtedly on the rise. The male grooming market has been cited as an industry of $3.5 billion and growing, especially among graying baby boomers and hip generation X-ers. Men are spending heavily on grooming products, hair restoration, teeth whitening, and cosmetic surgery in the relentless pursuit of youth and perfection.”
Teeth staining, or chromogenic agents, include tea, red wine and medications especially those that contain tetracycline. An estimated 100 million people are coffee drinkers—that makes up approximately 54 percent of the adult American population. That’s about 40 million smokers. Teeth whitening products help to lighten stains caused by coffee, tea, red wine or tobacco (in all its forms). It also helps to whiten yellow teeth caused by aging. It is no wonder that teeth whitening manufacturers and products are in increasingly high demand.
